AUTOMOTIVE AND HEAVY VEHICLE CRASH INVESTIGATION |
HEAVY VEHICLE POST CRASH INSPECTION |
CCAR Investigators perform a thorough analysis with access to Virtual Crash simulation software www.vcrashusa.com, FARO HD and FARO Zone 3D mapping software. CCAR Investigators are equipped with event data recorder interrogation tools as well as specific training in both automotive and heavy vehicle crash investigations. CCAR Investigators have received training in and utilize the Interactive Driver Response Research (I.DRR) software to evaluate the responses of vehicle operators prior to a collision.
Several CCAR Investigators are current or former Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) Level One Truck Inspectors. They have the tools and skills to perform an in-depth forensic post-collision equipment evaluation of a Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV)
CCAR investigators are equipped with a Leica Total Measuring Station, DOT Product 3D Scanner and a DJI Phantom 4 small Unmanned Aerial System (sUAS) capable of mapping both the roadway geometry and vehicle evidence in 3 dimensions. These devices allow CCAR investigators to complete accurate scale diagrams for crash evaluation and courtroom presentations. CCAR investigators are equipped with instrumentation to capture and record the friction coefficient of the roadway along with the acceleration capabilities of specific vehicles.
CCAR Investigators have the resources to collect and interpret EDR data from both passenger cars and CMVs. 99% of passenger vehicles today have an event data recorder in the form of an Airbag Control Module (ACM). A majority of Commercial Motor Vehicles (CMV) have event data recorders in the form of an Electronic Control Module (ECM), Anti-lock Braking System Electronic Control Unit (ABS-ECU), or within a collision avoidance system. CCAR Investigators have the training and skill to evaluate Electronic Logging Devices (ELD) and the associated subscription based telematics data.
